So Ta-Ku released another time themed tribute album. This one being dedicated to the amazing Nujabes. And as an avid fan of both, while I don’t necessarily think every track is done in the simulated style, unlike his J. Dilla (here & here) tribute albums which are pretty spot on, this track is by far my favorite. It is light, dreamy, hip, cool, and a bit sexy when the break hits. I’ll phrase it this way, it definitely feels more like a Nujabes influenced album than a straight up tribute, but I did put more than half of the album on my iPod. Anyway, moving back to the track at hand fight the urge not to shimmy or just nod your head a bit it when listening, I dare you. Check out the album it is on his Soundcloud and is well worth the hour long full-streaming listening experience. Enjoy.

The Damn Girl! Mix is up, enjoy and download if you like. The track listing really makes no sense, but it sounds sort of right together.

I am officially Fresno State’s Editor for our university blog, The Bulldog Blog! I start Wednesday!

So today was a monumental day to say the least. The entire campus was scheduled to have electrical maintenance, it was the last day of classes before Spring Break, I had a group Africana Studies Midterm, and to top it off I decided to check on the blogging job for school.
The test was surprisingly easy and only 10 questions, so that was cool. But after playing the waiting game, dealing with my stomach in excited knots, I heard back from the director of ASI, who had interviewed me on Wednesday. I’m the top candidate for the position! They are still waiting for one last person to give the go ahead for me, so until he either calls and gives the green light, or would like me to meet with him since technically he would be one of my bosses, I’m unofficially official. But still I’m super excited!
The thought of having this job as long as I am a student, and to have the freedom to express my opinion and shed light on issues and generally cool things happing either on campus or with students is unreal. I’m so happy and grateful, it is hard to express without sounding like a blubbering fool.
I called my important people in the order of my Mother, Arielle, and Daniel. Saw my friend Irene on campus who could not have been more happy for me. And thanked God and my Grandmother for answering my incessant prayers. I can only at this point hope to meet this mystery man soon, who is the for all intensive purposes my 5th out of 5 dentists, and I don’t want to settle for just 4 out of 5 hypothetically speaking.
Any way I’m celebrating right now before I do something tonight, by drinking a 40oz (Something I have never actually done before.), and by eating a pack of Thin Mints I purchased from the Girls Scouts in the parking lot of the Walgreens around the from my house, after I purchase my 40. (Real classy.)
Till it is official…

Just a little ditty about Obama, and casual Adderall & Meth use. Thank you, Sufjan Stevens for the original, & mc DJ (aka Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino) for the rework.

(For those of you that don’t know, our President, is referenced by Sujfan in the lyrics when he sings, I’m not afraid of the black man runnin’, he’s got it right, he’s got a better life commin’. This is a nod to President Obama, referencing his time as Senator of the State of Illinois, the state that the entire album is about. The development of the song and the album also coincide with President Obama’s time as a Senator, and his successful campaign to represent the State of Illinois at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.)
