So I decided to dedicate today as a movie day, mainly watching films I had wanted to see, but missed in theaters. Before I really gave it too much thought, I had perused movies as far back as 2008, looking at a list of major releases to help jog my memory of everything I had potentially wanted to see. I realized how much my life has changed in what has felt like a short time. Just looking at the titles triggered memories for me; The development and dissolution of relationships and friendships, individual growing pains, and it was all a little much. I feel like taking a nap, but I’m not tired. I think this is just how my body interprets the weird mix of nostalgia and sadness.

I was offered to be the Communications Assistant for my university in addition to my blogging duties. It is hard to believe after only a month and a half, I was honored at an awards dinner, and now am getting a promotion.

Life just keeps getting better, and after all of these years of hard work and internal self-doubt, I actually feel like I did make the right decisions, and my dreams are starting to come true. I can only imagine where the future might take me, but for now I’m just trying to soak in all of this happiness and excitement, lord knows it has been a awhile since I’ve felt this way about anything.

I believe that it was this song in which I first heard the Laura Darlington’s ethereal voice, and instantly I was hooked. Wife of Deadelus, and constant collaborator with both her husband ~~(the duo record under the name The Long Lost.)~~ and Flying Lotus ~~(Deadelus is singed to Lotus’s Brainfeeder record label.)~~ her voice is the rides the fine line of being haunting and that of a religious experience.

Though she has a small number of recordings to her credit, I cherish the ones she has available. This is not even the original version of the track, which is stunning in its own right, but this particular version just happens to be my favorite, it captivates a part of my imagination, that is pure fantasy.

I can readily picture a vision suggestively dancing and performing this song, with tribal rhythms beating strongly as the veiled woman dances around the fire in the moon light. And that is what I think draws me to this song so much in particular, is it feels like a personification of a fantasy. (The photo inset is that of model Tanya Dziahileva, closing disgraced anti-semetic designer John Galliano’s Fall Ready To Wear 2009 show, despite this, the imagery seemed to fit the the fantasy of the song.)
